Whistleblowing Consultation

Beat the Whistle

Earlier this year, the whistleblowing charity Public Concern at Work set up a Commission to look at whistleblowing in the workplace. A public consultation is being carried out to establish whether the current legal framework is fit for purpose.

This consultation asks a number of significant questions, including whether it should be mandatory for all employers to have a whistleblowing policy; whether whistleblowers should be rewarded either financially or otherwise to encourage them to come forward; and whether whistleblowing protection should be extended to a include more than just current employees or workers.

The consultation is due to close on 21st June 2013 but there is still time for any interested party to provide feedback on the proposals either by post or email.  The consultation may be found athttp://www.pcaw.org.uk/Whistleblowing-commission-public-consultation
