Thinking of others this Christmas
Each year our staff can’t wait to get into the spirit of Christmas, and who can blame them. This year however has seen some changes in the usual format. Rather than the usual secret santa, seeing the giving and receiving of, frankly, unnecessary gifts, a shout out was raised for donations to local foodbanks and the response has been quite overwhelming. Boardroom tables have been groaning under the weight of donations and what has been especially touching is how many of the younger members of our Mackinnons “family” have themselves “gone the extra mile” to help contribute.
Our donations have been passed to Community Food Initiatives North East (CFINE) whose statistics are sobering. Between November 2018 and January 2019, CFINE distributed 4,300 emergency parcels to people in need….which equates to 71,000 meals. CFINE is a registered charity who accept donations of food or monetary contributions.
….not just for Christmas
Such has been the success of this coming together by our staff and their families to make a difference to those in greater need, that staff members are keen to continue these efforts on a “year round” basis to collect donations and support families in the North East who may otherwise be overlooked.
“This has been a great team effort which will hopefully become an annual project and will help ease the burden for some less fortunate this Christmas”.
